One: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
Many: "He was in the beginning with God."
One: "All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people."
Many: Tonight we journey from the darkness to the light.
One: Tonight we decide to give up.
Many: Tonight we vow to stop resisting the irresistible grace of God.
One: And in giving up the light floods into our lives, hearts and communities.
Many: The light is the truth of the world. It dispels the darkness. And we live by that truth.
One: Whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done through God."
Many: "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it."
