10:40 Reading - Reader: Alan Vaughan

From John 19:31-33 - Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jews did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down. The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other. But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.

From Exodus 12:21,46 - Then Moses summoned all the elders of Israel and said to them, "Go at once and select the animals for your families and slaughter the Passover lamb... Do not break any of the bones."

From Psalm 34:20 - He protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.

From Psalm 51:17 - The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

Prayer: Father of the whole and the broken, who would not allow your Son's bones to be broken, but wants our spirits broken, may we hear your call in our hearts and acknowledge Jesus as our sacrificial lamb for our sins. May we humble ourselves in the realization that your Son has laid His life down for us. Let your Holy Spirit guide our lives to be examples to others of what Christ has done for us. In the name of the Holy Lamb of God. Amen.
