From John 19:26-7 - "Jesus said to his mother, "Woman, here is your son." Then Jesus said to the disciple, "Here is your mother."
From James 1:27 - Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.
From 1 Timothy 5:1-3 - Treat younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity. Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need.
Prayer: Father, forgive us for not seeing the needs of those around us. Please guide us and convict us to care for the needy and let us be a witness to them, so they might see the light of Jesus which shines through us. In your Son's precious name. Amen.
