8:00 Reading - Reader: Beth Dretsun

From Matthew 26:73-75 - After a little while, those standing there went up to Peter and said, "Surely you are one of them, for your accent gives you away." Then he began to call down curses on himself and he swore to them, "I don't know the man!" Immediately a rooster crowed. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: "Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times." And he went outside and wept bitterly.

From Isaiah 53:6 - We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. From John 21:17 The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep.

Prayer: Father, maker of us all - sheep and wolves alike, please forgive us for forgetting or even denying your Son during times of trials. Forgive us for not acknowledging Him when opportunities present themselves at home, work or school. Thank you for giving us second chances. May we become witnesses of your Son’s death on the cross and spread the word to those around us with joy in our hearts of the glorious sacrifice your Son has made on behalf of each one of us. We pray all these things in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
