9:30 Reading - Reader: Matt Herynk

From Psalm 69:19-21 - You know how I am scorned, disgraced and shamed; all my enemies are before you. Scorn has broken my heart and has left me helpless; I looked for sympathy, but there was none, for comforters, but I found none. They put gall in my food and gave me vinegar for my thirst.

From John 19:28-29 - "I am thirsty" A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus' lips.

Prayer: O Father, who provides all living waters, we thank you for the eternal springs of life your Son provided through His work on the cross for our behalf. Forgive us for not quenching the thirst of those around us - in thought, word and deed. Please supply us with your eternal light so we may go out and water your fertile harvest with your Word. We thank you and humbly ask in the name your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
